Early November 2007 - After many interesting turns, our now dear friend and most admired social worker, Larry, called us and said he thought he had a perfect match kiddo that we would love. He told us his name was Thomas and he was 10 at the time. Saying "Yes" didn't require any prayer at all. We had been praying that God would bring the right child into our lives and He did.
October 2007 - We began our MAPP class with the Wichita Children's Home after deciding to pursue emergency placement foster care for a period of time until the Lord led us to a child.
September 11, 2007 - Attended our orientation meeting at Youthville. We learned so much about the foster care system and the tremendous need right here in Kansas. The social worker described the situtation as a "crisis situation". Youthville is just one of many placing agencies in our area and they are seeing nearly 70 new kids in the system every month!
September 2007 - After much prayer we determined that we would pursue adoption through the foster to adopt program at Youthville in Wichita.
July 10, 2007 - Spoke with Heather at ABC Adoptions and discovered that due to something from our past (no mass murder or anything) we would not be approved to be a home study client of their agency. They had very specific rules that seemed actually rather ridiculous to us. We saw this as a closing door and began to pray.
July 2, 2007 - Spoke with Heather at ABC Adoptions in Kansas City about our home study. She spoke with the director and they decided it would be fine to proceed with the homestudy late this summer, despite our odd situation. Yippeeee!!!
June 28, 2007 - Spoke with Judy at Gladney. She suggested several items I could work on while waiting for Nathan to return from Iraq. She also said to call to set up the orientation once he was home. (She told me to give him a few days to settle in first!!! :) Maybe two days, but a few seems extreme!!!! :) )
June 15, 2007 - Sent Info Sheet to Gladney to pursue the adoption of an infant from Ethiopia.
